[With Galois] Microsoft assembled an international team of experts to address the shocking security, accessibility, and usability problems in digital voting. Working alongside UX legend Whitney Quesenbery and cryptography power house Josh Benaloh, I worked as the conduit between the cryptographers and the UX team. I focused my efforts on designing a tracking systems for ballots to increase voter engagement, build trust, and provide important security safeguards.
My role in this project included:
- Create a usable ballot tracking system concept in compliance with cryptography protocols
- Design prototypes for the ballot tracking system to gather internal stakeholder feedback.
- Externally test prototypes – one round focused on accessibility with MS Labs and people using various assistive technology. One round of testing focused on general population.
- Iteratively improve prototype with testing and internal feedback. Collaborate with visual designers for final system.
